CleanMax flat vacuum belts are critical for maintaining brush roll movement and effective carpet cleaning performance. Different CleanMax series use specific flat belt part numbers, most commonly the B014-0814B for Zoom models and B014-0714 for Pro Series models.
Belt Compatibility by Model
- Zoom Series (ZM-200, ZM-400, ZM-500, ZM-600, ZM-800): These models typically use the B014-0814B flat belt. This belt also fits several Riccar SupraLite and Simplicity Freedom models.
- Pro Series (CMPS-1N, CMPS-QD, CMP-3N, CMP-3QD): These uprights generally require the B014-0714 (also listed as CMPS-BB) flat belt.
- Nitro Series: This line uses the B014-6900 Nitro bulk belt.
- Other Models:
Key Specifications and Maintenance
- Design: Flat belts have a larger contact area with the motor shaft and brush roller than older round belts, making them more slip-resistant and efficient.
- Replacement Schedule: It is recommended to replace flat belts every 6 to 9 months for non-commercial use, or annually at a minimum, as they stretch over time and lose tension.
- Indicators for Replacement: Stretched or broken belts can cause poor dirt pickup, burning smells, excessive noise, or a brush roll that stops spinning.
Replacement Instructions
To replace a CleanMax flat belt, generally follow these steps:
- Safety: Always unplug the vacuum before beginning.
- Access: Remove the screws (typically 5 or 6) holding the bottom plate or belt guard in place.
- Removal: Remove the brushroll and slip off the old belt.
- Installation: Loop the new belt over the motor pulley first, then over the end of the brushroll.
- Alignment: Stretch the belt while reinserting the brushroll into the housing, ensuring any printing on the belt faces outward.
- Testing: Spin the brushroll by hand to ensure it turns smoothly and the belt is properly aligned before reattaching the cover.
